Young girls raise funds for Cambodia projects

Aleeya and Bonita Holman and Mia Ellson baking home-made sweets to raise funds for Supporting Cambodia

Good afternoon all,

I wanted to share a quick bit of Cambodia projects news with you today about a very successful fundraising initiative that my 10 year old daughter Mia and a couple of her good friends (Bonita and Aleeya Holman) undertook late last week (pics attached).

Totally unprompted, they decided off their own bat to spend Friday morning baking an array of delicious home-made goodies and then took to the streets in the afternoon to sell their wares and donate the entire proceeds to our projects in Andong and Oddar Meanchey villages.

Kangaroo Island girls raise money for our Supporting Cambodia School Food Program

I'm very pleased to report that they came back virtually empty-handed, apart from a wad of cash totalling over $180 which they handed over and I have now earmarked (rather aptly) for the food program we run at both schools that sees nearly 1200 underprivileged kids get either a free breakfast or lunch.

I was really proud of their efforts and the level of compassion they showed for their counterparts in Cambodia. I need to make a special mention of the support (and clean-up assistance) provided my Naomi Murton on the day who helped to return our kitchen to some semblance of respectability.

If you or your family would like to have a go at doing a small fundraiser for our Cambodia projects please let me know and I can support you with some promotional material and assistance.

Thanks again for your ongoing support and encouragement.
