New bathrooms for our Cambodian high school students
A quick update on the progress of our fantastic bathroom project at our high school boarding house in remote Oddar Meanchey (OM), northern Cambodia. You may recall we recently committed to this major infrastructure project to improve the conditions for our 60+ students who live full time in the OM House of Hope so they can attend the adjacent public high school.
Most of these kids have parents who work over the border in neighbouring Thailand and only see them for a few weeks of the year, so this house is a really important constant in their lives and is their fulltime home. After receiving a first class free education in our primary school, they are offered the opportunity to study at the public high school and board at the OM House of Hope, with all the costs covered by our very generous donors.
With the house bursting at the seams for a few years now and the impact of a Covid outbreak on site a few months ago, we have been forced to prioritise upgrading the single toilet and substandard bathroom facilities these kids have been sharing so that they will now have a separate space for both boys and girls and even showers!!
I've included some pics hot off the press of the nearly completed project. We are just waiting for the rain to abate so that some of the external finishes can be completed and the internal fit-out is well underway.
Thanks again for your ongoing support and encouragement.
