Generous girls raise further funds for Cambodia projects

I'm really proud to be able to share with you about another little fundraiser my daughter Mia and her two close friends Bonita and Aleeya undertook earlier this week in aid of our Cambodia projects.

They once again got the mixing bowls out and cooked up quite the storm in our family home in the morning and then took to the streets of Kingscote in the afternoon and peddled their gourmet delights to a host of unsuspecting shop owners and customers.

In record time they sold the lot and raised an impressive $301, surpassing their previous best by more than $100. They once again had plenty of 'keep the change' moments and some one off donations which was a great encouragement to them.

These funds will be used to continue the great work of our on ground team in Cambodia who operate our schools, boarding house, emergency food programs etc. To put it into perspective, this amount of money will cover the cost of feeding 40 of our village kids at one of our schools for a whole month. Just amazing.

Thanks girls for your continued efforts and also to the mums Jodi and Mel for their behind the scenes work as well.

We would love for you to consider partnering with us in an array of great projects across two of Cambodia's poorest provinces by making a tax deductible donation today (or any day). You can contribute directly into our Australian working account ‘Supporting Cambodia’ BSB: 015-600 Account: 1967 91878 (Please include your name and email address in the transaction for a tax receipt) or with a credit card on our donation page.

Many thanks,

Rob

**As an awesome postscript to this story, I received a message from an occasional donor late last night who said he was so inspired by the efforts and commitment of the girls that he felt moved to donate $3,000 to the projects. Such a fantastic outcome all round. This will have a massive impact in the communities we support. Many akuns.

Rob Ellson, Chairman

Rob Ellson was one of a group of 15 Kangaroo Islanders who visited Cambodia for the first time in 2009. Witnessing a struggling community of more than 1,000 displaced people greatly impacted all of the Kangaroo Island group. After returning home to Kangaroo Island, Rob couldn't let go of the needs of those families.  Over the coming months and subsequent visits back to Cambodia he founded ‘Kangaroo Island Supporting Cambodia’.
